Vincitore di tre premi Oscar nel 2007 (per la fotografia, la scenografia e il trucco), Il labirinto del fauno è un fantasy – dalle tinte fosche - di grande fascino, ambientato nella Spagna franchista.
Protagonista è la piccola Ofelia, che si rifugia nel mondo delle fiabe per sfuggire all’orrore della guerra e alla ferocia del patrigno, il capitano Vidal (un eccezionale Sergi Lopez).
Secondo volume della saga ideata dal giovanissimo Paolini (all’epoca della stesura del primo volume, Eragon, aveva solo 15 anni). Dopo aver salvato la città dei ribelli dall’attacco dell’esercito del malvagio re Galbatorix - così si concludono sia il libro sia l’omonimo film - Eragon e il suo drago devono partire alla volta di Ellesméra, terra degli elfi, dove il ragazzo potrà continuare ad apprendere tutti i segreti che un Cavaliere dei Draghi deve conoscere. Ancora una volta Paolini, da molti considerato diretto erede di Tolkien, ci descrive viaggio emozionanti, e narra avventure pericoloso ed enigmatiche. Naturalmente tranelli e tradimenti sono in agguato per il giovane e per il suo drago…Un vero e proprio omaggio a tutta la letteratura fantasy.

La sua uscita al cinema l’anno scorso è passata quasi sotto silenzio, almeno in Italia, ma “A Scanner Darkly - Un oscuro scrutare” è un film di grande impatto visivo ed emotivo.
Tratto dall’omonimo romanzo di Philp K. Dick (“Un oscuro scrutare”, Fanuccci 2007), il film è opera di Richard Linklater, già regista di Fast Food Nation (2006) e School of Rock (2003), che sperimenta la tecnica di animazione del rotoscoping, ritoccando digitalmente, fotogramma per fotogramma, le normali riprese dal vivo.

Non ho ancora visto il recentissimo “Il nascondiglio” di Pupi Avati, film con il quale il regista di “Regalo di Natale” (1986), “Il testimone dello sposo” (1997) e “Il cuore altrove” (2003) si cimenta nuovamente con l’horror.
Però ho finalmente trovato la versione DVD di “La casa dalle finestre che ridono”, pellicola del 1976 che rappresenta la miglior prova del regista del genere noir.
